EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (November 13, 2025) — The Excelsior Springs Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a woman was found deceased along Fredericksburg Road on Wednesday evening.

Police said a 911 caller reported seeing a body in the roadway in the 1000 block of Fredericksburg Road at approximately 5:59 p.m. Officers arrived within minutes and located a deceased woman on the shoulder. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Mary Levingston of Kansas City, Missouri.

According to Police Chief Gregory Dull, preliminary findings indicate that Levingston died from blunt force trauma to the head, injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. No suspect vehicle or driver has yet been identified, and police are treating the case as an active hit-and-run investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information, including sightings of suspicious vehicles, unusual activity, or any available dashcam or doorbell footage from the area, to come forward.

Information can be shared by contacting the Excelsior Springs Police Department: (816) 630-2000 or the TIPS Hotline: (816) 474-TIPS (anonymous)

“Additional details will be released as they become available and appropriate,” Chief Dull said.

This is a developing story, and the Excelsior Citizen will continue to publish updates as they become available.
