EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (November 13, 2025) — A man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in Homestead Village, a small rural neighborhood a few miles northeast of Excelsior Springs near Crystal Lakes, according to the Ray County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 500 block of Arapahoe Drive at approximately 12:17 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a 43-year-old man unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds.
Investigators have now formally identified the victim as Daniel Konrardy, 43, of Homestead Village. His name had already been widely shared by grieving family members and friends, who began mourning his loss publicly in the hours after the shooting.
According to a probable cause statement filed with the Ray County Prosecutor’s Office, deputies were initially dispatched after reports of shots being fired. Before they arrived, dispatchers were informed that Glen Michael Stice, 55, had called 911, admitted to shooting someone, and said the firearm he used would be left on a table on the front porch of his residence.
In that call, Stice allegedly claimed the victim attempted to throw a rock at him but missed, striking Stice’s truck instead. He also stated the victim was holding “a strap with nails punched through it.” Stice told dispatchers he used a .22-caliber pistol and said the victim “should have been in jail” and “brought the wrong weapons to the wrong party,” according to the affidavit.
When detectives arrived at the residence, they located the firearm where Stice described. The pistol reportedly had one round in the chamber, and the magazine was empty.
Thursday morning, the Ray County Prosecutor’s Office formally charged Stice with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He remains held at the Ray County Jail.
Possible Penalties if Convicted
Under Missouri law, a conviction for first-degree murder (a Class A felony) carries the state’s most severe penalties: death or life imprisonment without eligibility for parole or probation.
The armed criminal action charge, which applies when a felony is committed with the aid of a deadly weapon, carries a mandatory minimum of three to fifteen years in prison for a first offense. If the defendant was illegally possessing a firearm, the minimum increases to five years. This sentence is served in addition to any sentence imposed for the underlying felony.
Community Reaction
News of the shooting spread quickly across social media on Wednesday, prompting an emotional response from those who knew Konrardy. Many described him as someone who faced personal struggles but was deeply cared for by friends and family.
“No matter the situation, there are people hurting and will hurt forever,” one commenter wrote.
Another said, “His family is forever changed in the blink of an eye. No one should have to endure this.”
