Cornerstone Elementary has launched a new archery program under the guidance of Physical Education (PE) Coach, Seth Rulon. The program was initiated to provide the students with an opportunity to experience something new and exciting that they can take out of the gym and practice on their own time.

According to Coach Rulon, the idea was inspired by his love for archery and his wish to have had access to the sport as a child. “I wish I could have had something like this as a kid,” he said. “And it’s something that a lot of these kids haven’t got to experience before. I thought it’d be a great opportunity for them to get to do something new, and something exciting.” He believes that the program will not only allow the students to learn a new skill but also provide them with an avenue to participate in different tournaments and competitions.

The program was first introduced as a trial run during summer school last year and it was a resounding success. Based on this, the school decided to roll out the program for the current academic year. Plans are also in place to extend the program to the other two elementary schools in the district and eventually to the middle and high schools.

“Take your time, this is not a race!” said Coach Rulon (photo S Jason Cole).

Coach Rulon also expressed his gratitude to the administration for their support in making the program a reality. He thanked the school superintendent and administration for their support and for allowing him to procure the necessary supplies in a timely manner.

The archery program at Cornerstone Elementary has been a hit with the students, who have responded positively to the opportunity to learn a new skill. Coach Rulon expressed his excitement at being able to introduce the sport to the students, stating that the fourth and fifth graders at Cornerstone Elementary are the program’s first participants and have done an exceptional job during the first four weeks of the program.

In conclusion, the archery program at Cornerstone Elementary School is an excellent opportunity for students to learn a new skill and engage in competitive sports. The success of the program so far shows that it has the potential to be extended to other schools in the district and become a significant part of the district’s sports programs.
