CLAY COUNTY, Mo. (October 13, 2025) – The long-awaited trial of Timothy Haslett Jr., the Excelsior Springs man accused of kidnapping and torturing a woman in 2022 and suspected in the murder of another, has been postponed once again.

Court records show that the jury trial, previously set for December 8, 2025, has been rescheduled to October 26, 2026, in Clay County Circuit Court before Judge David Chamberlain.

A pre-trial conference is now scheduled for October 9, 2026, ahead of the new trial date, and Haslett’s next court appearance is set for December 5, 2025, for a docket call — a brief proceeding in which the judge and attorneys review the case’s status, confirm upcoming dates, and address any pending motions or scheduling matters.

All prior hearings and trial dates have been officially marked as cancelled in the court docket.

Haslett faces multiple felony charges in a case that captured national attention after a woman escaped his Excelsior Springs home and alerted authorities, leading to his arrest.

This latest delay adds to a growing list of continuances in a case that has been pending for more than three years, as both the prosecution and defense prepare for what is expected to be a lengthy and emotional trial.
