Posts that got you talking:
Violinist at Price Chopper
Community members have mixed reactions regarding the young men using speakers to fake violin performances for donations outside local stores. Some feel indifferent, noting it’s up to individuals whether they want to give, while others express frustration, highlighting that it feels deceptive. A few responders shared similar “fake violin” experiences in other towns and even referenced news segments suggesting it’s a coordinated, multi-location effort. Some believe it’s harmless if listeners enjoy the music, while others suspect possible scams or human trafficking elements behind such solicitations. Several responses emphasize that if people stop donating, it could discourage this type of activity, encouraging alternative support methods for those in need.
Help identifying spider
Community members identified the spider in question as a wolf spider, noting its resemblance to the grass spider but with distinctive features, such as a pointed abdomen. Many commented that wolf spiders, while potentially intimidating, are generally non-aggressive and are actually beneficial, as they prey on more harmful spiders like the brown recluse. Some suggested using sticky traps to manage spider populations, though others prefer a “live and let live” approach, relocating spiders outside. Wolf spiders do carry mild venom, but bites are typically non-lethal unless there’s an allergic reaction. A few funny, relatable anecdotes emerged, including encounters with wolf spiders unexpectedly jumping, as well as advice to be wary of baby spiders scattering if the mother wolf spider is stepped on. Overall, despite some fears, most responses emphasized that wolf spiders can be helpful to have around.
