EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (October 11, 2026) — The aisles of Price Chopper were alive with excitement Saturday morning as the Excelsior Springs and Lawson Rotary Clubs hosted their annual Rotary Grocery Grab.
For weeks leading up to the event, Rotary members sold tickets to residents in Excelsior Springs and Lawson. Each ticket offered the chance to win a shopping spree reminiscent of Supermarket Sweep, with five finalists selected for the grand drawing.
This year’s finalists included Barbara Summa, Misty Jones, Audra Edwards, Krista Bell, and Rich Andrew. Andrew enlisted the help of his friend Bill Thomas to dash through the aisles on his behalf. Before the event, Rich and his wife carefully made a shopping list of their most-needed items, and Thomas delivered. With energy and precision, he hustled up and down the aisles, grabbing everything from briskets to laundry detergent, determined to make every second count.

As Thomas took off down the aisles, onlookers cheered him on while he filled his cart with groceries of every kind. The other four finalists didn’t leave empty-handed; each received a gift basket valued at over $100, courtesy of the Rotary Clubs.
The Grocery Grab tradition continues to be one of the Rotary’s most successful and lighthearted fundraisers. Proceeds from the event will go toward college scholarships for local graduating seniors and other community service initiatives.
Rotary members say the excitement of the Grocery Grab isn’t just about the fun, it’s about giving back. “The Grocery Grab always brings out the best in Excelsior Springs,” said Rotarian Courtney Cole. “It’s fun, it’s fast, and it’s all for a great cause.”
The Excelsior Springs Rotary Club meets every Thursday at noon and welcomes anyone interested in community service, networking, and leadership development. To learn more or get involved, visit the club’s Facebook page for details on upcoming meetings and service opportunities.
