RAY COUNTY — Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Ray County has issued a boil advisory for customers who experienced water loss or low pressure following a water line break. The advisory is in effect until Monday, December 2, and impacts residents in the following areas:
- South of 158th Street to County Line Road
- 152nd Street
- Homestead Village
- West of Crystal Lakes on Route Y
Affected customers were notified via a voice recording that stated: “Attention PW USD number two of Ray County customers, you may experience low water or no water due to a water break. We have issued a boil advisory at this time for any customer located south of 158th Street to County Line Road 152nd St., Homestead Village, west of Crystal Lakes, and Hwy Y. This will remain in effect until Monday, December 2.”
A boil advisory differs from a boil order in that it is issued as a precautionary measure when the safety of the water supply may be compromised due to events like a water main break or a drop in water pressure. During a boil advisory, customers are encouraged to boil water before consumption. A boil order, on the other hand, is issued when contamination is confirmed, making it mandatory to boil water for safety.
Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil water for at least three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. For updates and additional information, contact Public Water Supply District No. 2.
