Road Rage Incident Leads to Gunfire on Highway 69, Suspect in Custody in Excelsior Springs

The intersection of 69 Hwy and McCleary Road in Excelsior Springs

A road rage incident in Excelsior Springs on Highway 69 near McCleary Road escalated into gunfire Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at approximately 4:30pm when one driver allegedly fired a handgun at another vehicle. According to preliminary reports, the confrontation began after a “brake-check”, which led to one suspect pulling a weapon and firing into the passing car.

The Excelsior Springs Police Department responded quickly to the scene and has confirmed that the suspect is now in custody. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries, and authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Details about the suspect’s identity, the events leading up to the incident, and potential charges are still emerging. The investigation remains active, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
