Excelsior Springs, Mo. – Excelsior Springs High School held its Class of 2025 graduation with a memorable ceremony. The celebration was held at the school’s gymnasium on Friday, May 16th, at 7 p.m. It brought together families, friends, and faculty to celebrate a major milestone for these students.
Principal Sara Wickham started the ceremony by delivering an inspiring welcome address, reminding the graduates that while they “reminisce on their last moments of high school, it’s also a time of new beginnings and firsts.” This motif was seen throughout the night and echoed in Senior Speaker Josh Goodman’s speech. “No matter what is going on in the world around you, the only one who has the power to control your future is you!”
Special recognition was given to the class’s academic leaders. Salutatorian Cole Rhine was awarded a scholarship for his GPA of 4.309, and Valedictorian Jack Dearing was celebrated for his exceptional academic record and GPA of 4.311.
The commencement ceremony featured various musical performances, with the traditional rendition of “Pomp and Circumstance” performed by the ESHS Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. Garrett Jones. The Springs Singers, led by Mr. Tim Harlan, also took to the spotlight to perform “For Good” before the Symphonic Band returned for a rocking cover of “Live and Let Die.” Finally, the Springs Singers returned to deliver a heartwarming rendition of the ESHS alma mater.
The ceremony concluded with a final message from senior Reese O’Dell, sending the graduates off with a celebratory spirit. As “Pomp and Circumstance” filled the air, the graduates excitedly threw their caps high, marking the end of their high school journey and the beginning of the journey ahead of them.
