The Excelsior Springs Police Department welcomed its newest member, Officer Deven Bierle, in a swearing-in ceremony held at 9 a.m. Friday morning. The event marked a milestone in Bierle’s career as he officially joined the ranks of law enforcement, ready to serve and protect the citizens of Excelsior Springs.

Deven Bierle, the son of Tony and Angie Bierle, is a homegrown talent, having graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 2019. His commitment to serving his community has been evident from a young age, and his recent induction into the police force is a testament to his dedication and hard work. “When I was a kid I wanted to be a police officer but I kind of went away from the idea, then my wife gave me the encouragement to go back a few months before the academy.”

The ceremony was a touching moment for the Bierle family and friends, who gathered to witness Deven receive his badge, symbolizing his readiness to take on the responsibilities of a police officer. The Excelsior Springs Police Department expressed their enthusiasm for having Bierle on board, highlighting the importance of nurturing local talent and reinforcing the bond between the community and law enforcement.

Officer Bierle expressed his gratitude for the support from his family, the community, and the department, affirming his commitment to his new role. “I’m looking forward to keeping the city where I live safe. The Excelsior force seems like a big family and I’m excited to be here,” Bierle stated.
