Excelsior Springs Hospital, your hometown healthcare

Veterans and Community Health Focus of Excelsior Springs Hospital’s July Health and Wellness Series

Tina Cook speaks at a Health and Wellness Workshop at the Excelsior Springs Community Center

The Excelsior Springs Hospital, in partnership with the Excelsior Springs Community Center, is offering a weekly series of forums focused on health and wellness education for local residents. The classes are free and held in the Senior Center at the Community Center during the 11:30 a.m. luncheon.

Tina R. Cook, Excelsior Springs Clinical/Community Education Coordinator, will kick off this month’s classes with a “Trivia with Tina” session. This interactive program aims to educate participants on personal health and wellness through engaging questions and answers.

On Friday, July 19, Felicia D. Wyckoff-Neal from Veterans Affairs Whole Health will speak about the VA’s new approach to healthcare. Whole Health empowers individuals to take charge of their well-being and live life to the fullest. Wyckoff-Neal will discuss the program’s benefits for veterans and the community. Health services for veterans, including primary care, mental health care, and specialty care, are available at the Excelsior Springs VA Clinic, 197 South McCleary Road. Transportation may be available.

The month’s final program will feature Rachel Hanson, Parish Outreach Manager from Catholic Charities. Hanson and her team will share their mission to empower, assist, and support at-risk individuals, helping them achieve dignity and self-reliance. They will discuss how the community can benefit from and support their efforts.

Registration is required for Senior Center and non-senior lunches. Visit the Senior Center’s website to register. All events will be held at the Excelsior Springs Community Center. Schedule changes will be posted on the Excelsior Springs Hospital’s Facebook Page.
