EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – October brought out the creativity in Excelsior Springs yards, with residents decorating to celebrate the fall season. This month, Thrive Excelsior’s Curb Appeal Contest included two categories: spooky décor and fall décor, awarding a home in each that stood out for its seasonal style and attention to detail.

In the spooky décor category, the home of Shane and Carlie at 1718 Wornall earned this month’s award. The award was sponsored by Family Wealthcare Center, and the couple’s display captured the spirit of Halloween and the eyes of anyone who drove along Wornall.

The fall décor category winner was Mr. and Mrs. Dooley of 707 Sagamore, whose home had been nominated several times for its warm and welcoming curb appeal charm. This award was sponsored by the Excelsior Citizen, and the Dooleys’ display combined traditional fall colors and thoughtful details that brought their landscaping recognition.

Each month, Thrive Excelsior recognizes local homes that stand out for their landscaping and curb appeal. The fall season always brings excitement, and October’s wrapping is only the beginning with festive awards for the rest of 2025.

Nominations for the November contest will be opening soon: keep an eye out for announcements on Thrive Excelsior’s Facebook page!
