EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo., Sept. 27, 2025 — The Lady Tiger softball team kept their offense rolling last week, scoring 57 runs over five games while finishing 3-2 and earning second place in the Excelsior Springs Tournament.

They opened the week with a 13-0 conference win over the Winnetonka Griffins on Monday night. A single run in the first was followed by three in the second and two in the third before a seven-run output in the sixth inning reached the final score. Seniors Willa Schreier and Keira Romazon each had three hits on the night. Seniors Bella Loeffert and Josie Casler, and sophomore Reese Ryan added two hits for the Lady Tigers. Sophomore Haylee Ray connected on her first of two home runs of the week. Senior Kayden Rogers threw a complete-game shutout, striking out five and allowing just one hit.

The Kearney Bulldogs hosted the Lady Tigers on Tuesday night, shutting down the offense in a 7-0 win. The offense was stagnant for Excelsior Springs, with Loeffert, Casler, and Rogers each collecting a hit in the shutout loss.

The bats broke out again at Grandview on Wednesday in a 20-0 win over the Bulldogs. Excelsior Springs opened with four runs in the first inning before exploding for 12 in the second and four more in the third. Four Lady Tiger hitters had multi-hit games, with Ray leading the way by going 3-for-3. Loeffert, Ryan, and Romazon each had two hits, and senior Kinley Rogers hit a home run in the win. Sophomore Courtney James picked up the victory in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out six.

The Excelsior Springs Tournament saw the Lady Tigers take on the North Kansas City Hornets in the opening round and the Lawson Cardinals in the championship game. Ray and Schreier each left the yard in the opening game en route to a 21-0 win. Kayden Rogers, Romazon and Ray collected three hits apiece, while Ryan, Schreier, and Kinley Rogers each had two hits. Romazon threw a three-inning no-hitter, striking out eight and walking one.

The Cardinals avenged an 11-9 loss to the Lady Tigers from Sept. 20 by defeating Excelsior Springs 13-3 in the championship game. Lawson took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added three runs in the second. The Lady Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the second to close the gap to one. A run in the third and six more in the fourth put the game out of reach. Excelsior Springs added a run in the fourth, but that was all they could manage as Lawson added two more in the sixth.

The 3-2 week put the Lady Tigers at 15-8 on the season with four games remaining before they host the Class 3 District 8 Tournament starting Oct. 18.
