Kearney Captures XC Conference Titles as Tigers Eye Districts Ahead

KEARNEY, Mo., Oct. 13, 2025 — The boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Kearney for the second straight week, this time for the Suburban Conference Blue meet. The boys’ team had four runners take part in the varsity race, while the girls placed two in their race.

Sophomore Lane Collins was the top Tiger finisher on the boys’ side with a 15th-place time of 20:20.88. Senior William Tade finished 18th with a time of 21:16.03, and senior Conrad Purnell was 22nd with a time of 22:38.63. Freshman Drake Whitney rounded out the Tiger runners by placing 25th with a time of 25:42.17. Cameron Fowler of Kearney won the individual conference championship with a time of 16:34.99, followed by Jack Johnston of Smithville at 16:53.84 and Logan Throm of Smithville in third at 17:06.86. Kearney took home the team title with five runners finishing in the top 10.

Sophomore Elizabeth Ringenberg was the top Lady Tiger runner in the meet with an 11th-place finish, crossing the line at 24:33.5. Senior Kirsten Stout finished in 25:35 to place 15th in the conference. The Kearney Bulldogs took the top four spots in the girls’ race, with Elizabeth Fowler claiming the individual championship at 21:05.5. Jordin Vaughn was second at 21:35.21, and Daisy Burnam was third with a time of 21:46.8. Kearney also took home the team title, with the Smithville Warriors placing second.

The cross country teams will continue training over the next two weeks to prepare for the Class 4 District 4 Meet in Lee’s Summit on Nov. 1.
