Excelsior Springs Wraps Up Outdoor Music Season with Jimmy Harris Band
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. — As the summer sun sets on another season of outdoor music in Excelsior Springs, the final notes rang out at the Golf Course last week with a performance by the Jimmy Harris Band.
The closing concert followed months of live music that brought residents together in parks, patios, and downtown streets. From the popular Lyrics on the Lawn series on the Hall of Waters grounds to the soulful sounds at the Blues Garden at Wabash BBQ, outdoor stages became gathering places for neighbors and visitors alike.
At the Golf Course, Harris marked the season’s end with a personal milestone. Joined by his daughter, Elena, he played what was his last Missouri show before relocating to Nashville, where the rest of his five-piece band is waiting. Harris, proud of his Missouri roots, said he looks forward to recording a new album there while continuing to keep his music true to his own style.
The group has already released two EPs, with 11 songs available on Spotify and other platforms. “We’ve been playing fairs and festivals the past couple of years, and it’s been a good run,” Harris said. “Even when we cover something, we try to make it our own.”

Excelsior Springs’ 2025 outdoor music season included a wide mix of sounds and settings, from big brass bands to soulful soloists. While the city now turns to fall and winter indoor performances, the close of the summer circuit leaves behind memories of evenings filled with friends, food, and music under the stars.
