Citizen Pet of the Week: Apollo

Excelsior Springs, Mo. (January 16, 2025) – Welcome to another edition of Pet of the Week! This week, meet the handsome Apollo, a one-year-old fawn Doberman owned by the Schwartz family.

Apollo has been with the Schwartz family since the day he was born. They also own his mom and dad! Apollo’s litter was born in September of 2023 and in September of 2024, the Schwartz’s hosted a birthday party for Apollo and all his siblings. They currently have a new litter that was born on Christmas, growing Apollo’s family even more.

Apollo’s mom, Amanda, shared with the Citizen that Apollo loves to go to Century Bark dog park here in Excelsior when the weather is warm. Amanda said Apollo loves to go to the local Scooter’s Coffee for a pup cup and the local Arby’s to get a pup bowl with chicken bites in it after a day of playing with friends. “Apollo gets really excited when we leave the dog park because he knows we are going to Scooters or Arby’s to get a treat,” Amanda shared.

When asked what her favorite thing about Apollo is, Amanda shared, “My favorite thing about Apollo is that even though he’s is a big boy, he is the most gentle Doberman ever, he’s also a big giant goofball, he sucks on his blankets, and he cuddles with his stuffies, and he does what I call ‘drive-by licks’ where he walks past, licks you only once really fast on your hand or face, and then keeps walking.”

It is obvious Apollo is a very loved member of the Schwartz family! A big thank you to Amanda for sharing him with us this week. Stay tuned next week to meet another furry citizen.
