
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo., Oct. 3, 2025 — The Tigers used two big plays in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Grandview Bulldogs last Friday night in a 22-7 Suburban Blue Conference win.
Freshman Nick Mubanga broke free for a 78-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Tigers the lead and then scored on a 12-yard touchdown run later in the quarter to seal the victory for the Tigers in front of their home crowd.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter to take the lead. The Tigers responded on their next drive and tied the game up when sophomore Landon Marcum hit junior Owen O’Dell for a 12-yard touchdown pass. Sophomore Marques Shouse put the extra point through the uprights to pull the Tigers even at 7-7.
The Tiger rushing attack opened up in the second half with Mubanga gaining 135 yards on 10 carries, including the 78-yard run to give the Tigers the lead. Senior Gaige Carr carried the football 13 times for 53 yards. Marcum was 8-for-12 throwing the football with the touchdown pass to O’Dell in the second quarter. Sophomore Dalton Guy hauled in three receptions for 53 yards for the Tiger receiving corps. O’Dell had two catches for 22 yards, and senior Marquez McCant had three catches for 16 yards.
The win came after last week’s first win of the season, a 9-6 win over the Raytown South Cardinals. The Tigers will host the St. Joseph Central Indians for homecoming this Friday night, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
