All Things Fireworks in Excelsior Springs: Shows, Laws, Tents, and Safety

As Independence Day approaches, the Excelsior Springs Police Department is reminding residents to celebrate responsibly. “Be courteous. Be cautious. And above all — stay safe,” reads their official Facebook announcement.

City of Excelsior Springs Fireworks Regulations

Per city ordinance, the legal window to discharge 1.4G fireworks in Excelsior Springs is:

  • June 28 – July 2 and July 5:
    Fireworks may be discharged from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • July 3 and 4:
    Fireworks may be discharged from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Outside of these dates and times, discharging fireworks is prohibited unless a special permit has been obtained.

Additional Regulations:

  • Bottle rockets and sky lanterns are strictly prohibited at all times.

  • Individuals must be 16 years or older to use fireworks unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • Violations may result in fines ranging from $50 to $500, up to 90 days in jail, or both.
