EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo., Oct. 2, 2025 — Senior foreign exchange student Alicja Jarosz went through the first month of the tennis season undefeated, but that came to an end last week against the North Kansas City Hornets.

The Hornets dominated every match on Oct. 2 in a 9-0 team win over the Lady Tigers. North Kansas City allowed the Lady Tigers to win just three games on the night, with each Excelsior Springs doubles team scoring one point. All of the singles matches were 8-0 sweeps in the nonconference matchup.

Despite the loss to the Hornets, the Lady Tigers picked up a 6-3 conference win over the Kearney Bulldogs earlier in the week.

Jarosz and junior Laney Smith cruised to an 8-1 win in the No. 1 doubles match against Kearney on Sept. 30. Juniors Ananya Carrel and Olivia Deere battled to an 8-6 win in the No. 2 match before the Bulldogs picked up a 9-8 win over juniors Hailey McDade and Kaylee Halfhill in the No. 3 match.

Jarosz gave the Lady Tigers their third win of the night with an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 singles match, and Smith followed with an 8-2 win. Carrel nabbed an 8-3 win in the No. 3 spot, and Deere won the No. 4 singles match 8-4. McDade fell 8-4, and Halfhill lost 8-1, but the Lady Tigers had already secured the team win.
