Groundhog Day, the first day of Dari-B, and the reopening of the yard waste and bulky item drop-off facilities – it must be springtime in Excelsior Springs!
Excelsior Springs reopened its yard waste and bulky item drop-off facilities at 1300 S. Marietta Street on March 2nd. This annual initiative serves the community’s needs for disposing of oversized waste items and yard debris in an environmentally responsible manner.
The yard waste facility is dedicated to the disposal of natural yard waste. Residents can bring leaves, branches, grass clippings, and other debris, ensuring that these organic materials are appropriately managed. The yard waste facility does not allow the disposal of bags, treated lumber, or other non-organic waste, as much of the material is either composted or recycled into mulch or other beneficial components.

Next to the yard waste facility, the bulky item drop-off site offers a solution for disposing of larger, non-hazardous items. Items that are too large for regular trash pickup can be brought here. Furniture, such as couches, chairs, tables, televisions, mattresses, box springs, lamps, carpet, padding, and some building/construction materials such as scrap boards, lumber, and scrap metal are welcome. While yard waste is free to residents, bulky item drop-off requires a cash-only fee. (see flyer below).
Keep in mind, hazardous materials such as paint, oils, grease, batteries, or chemicals are not accepted. (There is a hazardous household waste day once per year). Bulky item drop-off also does not take tires, bricks, dirt, or gravel. Bulky item drop-off helps prevent illegal dumping and promotes responsible waste management.
