Now that school has started and holidays are around the corner, there’s an uptick in activity, events, and happenings right now in Excelsior Springs. We wrote this so you would be “in the know” and can answer questions from your friends.

• The Christmas Committee is taking public votes now for this year’s theme for the holidays! Choose between Christmas Luau, Deck the Halls, Christmas Fiesta, or Sleigh Ride. Vote here!

• September 7th is Teacher Appreciation Day
• Molly Roberts will be her own featured artist during Second Fridays this Friday, September 9th. She will be showcasing a series of moon paintings that she has done recently. She invites everyone to stop by for some wine and live music by Kerry Beach!
• Blubox Boutique has moved across the street on Broadway from her previous location into the old Campbell Woods Designs space. She will have a Grand Reopening during Second Fridays this Friday, September 9th and hopes to expand her offerings to include kids and mens clothing in the near future!
• Lung Fu Do Kenpo Karate Systems – Tiger Dragon Karate Club has announced they will be having a 50th Anniversary Picnic on Sunday, September 18th at Siloam Mountain Park at 2:00pm. Previous students are invited to attend.
• There will be a Public Meeting regarding the Fishing River Watershed Study that will take place this Wednesday, September 7th at 6:00pm at the ES Community Center. Click here for previous reporting on this issue.
• Uptown Roots Salon is now offering boutique items along with spa services.
• ESHS Tiger Cheer will hold their Tiger Cheer Mini Clinic in the ES Middle School Gym on September 7th-8th. Click here for the form and more info.
• Tigerettes will have their Mini Clinic September 21st-23rd.
• Midwest Cyclery has established a partnership with Other Trails coffeehouse downtown, where they’re selling bikes and accessories locally.
• The last day for the Farmers Markets is October 26th.
• September 16th is National Night Out. Local celebration will take place in Siloam Mountain Park from 6-8pm. There will be police cars, 50 Grams of Food Truck
•The Eagles Club is having a Disco Party on September 10th
• Halberstadt Home Team is currently running a Pet Food Drive for the Good Samaritan Center. Donations can be dropped off at the Center.
• Arby’s is currently under renovation inside but drive thru continues to be an option.
• Go Car Wash has started construction and has been fenced off next to McDonald’s.
• There are reports of scammers “playing” violins at Aldi’s a few weeks ago. This is part of a nationwide scam.
• ReeceNichols Realtors of Excelsior Springs will be selling Red Friday Chiefs fans for $5 each at McDonald’s this Friday, September 9th. They will start selling the flags at 6am and go until they run out (which is fast so get there early!). Proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House.
• The Northland Grandfamilies Conference will take place September 9th.
• The Community Center will be taking a trip to Science City on Friday, September 23rd from 10:30am-4:30pm. Sign up at the front desk.
• The Excelsior Springs Hospital’s Hospice Program is looking for volunteers. Click here for more info and to make contact.
• The Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce is currently hiring an Executive Assistant.
• Aspire Senior Living (formerly ES Nursing and Rehab) is asking for candy donations for their residents to hand out Halloween candy to the area youth. Donations can be dropped off at 1003 Meadowlark Lane.
• Trash will be delayed one day this week due to the Labor Day holiday. Click here for the schedule for the rest of the year.
• The Excelsior Springs Fire Department‘s annual t-shirt fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Awareness is taking place now.
• Nickel & Suede will have a pop-up event at Pairings downtown on Thompson Ave. on September 15th from 6:30-9:00pm.
• There will be Elementary Curriculum Nights at each of the elementaries on Thursday, September 8th starting at 5:00pm.
• Watkins Mill Association’s 9th Annual Get Outdoors 6k will be September 17th.
• Pairings will have a Yoga and Brunch on Sat., September 10th at 10:30am.
• The costume shop Miss Taken Identity will be closing and moving to Eureka Springs.
• The county will hold a Mother Daughter Circle for daughters ages 11-18 on September 20th-October 11th. This is a structured support group for mothers and their daughters. This is a free program offered by the Clay County Family Court. Click here for more info.
• Museum bids for exterior painting are due by September 15th
• Wild Bunch will have a Car Show on Sat., September 17th
• Century Park will be closed through the end of the year for work that’s being done on Powell Lake to establish proper water runoff for Phase 2 of the Community Center’s expansion of an outdoor pool that is currently being built.
