There were a number of “Word on the Street”s this week! Check it out!
Splash Park’s parking lot nearly complete!
Nate Williams, ES Parks and Recreation Director says that they should know more Monday, but they’re hoping to have an opening by the end of this week! Remember, the Splash Park is free for all citizens and was paid for by the Parks and Recreation Foundation, that has spent years raising money through the popular Picadilly events!
AT&T Booster on Tower
It was rumored this week that AT&T will be putting a booster on the tower located in Siloam Mountain Park. This booster will not only help service for those that are with AT&T, the company will be leasing the space on the towers. That funding will be applied by helping the emergency workers switch over to the MARRS system.
Regent Bridge Update
After Regent Bridge was submerged in water from the June flood, the city is required to have it checked by the state before reopening. Chad Birdsong, City Public Works Director, gave an update that the divers from the state came this week and a report should be sent to the City within a week. This report will determine whether the bridge can be reopened for traffic or if it will need maintenance before being used again.
Light on 10 Hwy Reset
June left the community without power and when it was restored, one thing was a little off! Several citizens mentioned and asked about the light on 10 Hwy at the intersection of Kansas City Ave. It appears that the light would stay green longer for the traffic running along Kansas City Ave, rather than the highway, causing traffic to get really backed up at times. Michael Wollard took it upon himself to contact MODOT and report the issue. Within just a couple of days, the crews were here to fix the issue. Thanks, Michael!
New Hours for Restaurants
There were a couple of restaurants that announced an hours change recently. The Mug Coffeehouse will still be open 7 days a week, but will be closing a little earlier: M-F 5:30am-5pm, Sat 7am-3pm, Sun 8am-3pm.
Ventana Gourmet Grill has also announced their new hours: Tuesday-Thursday 4pm-9pm, Fri-Sat 11am-10pm

Is there any information on The Excelsior Club that’s located at 208 Spring Street on what it originally was before apartments. And how old the building is.
The Excelsior Club has a rich history. Back in the day it was a brothel and it was so bad that the Governor of Missouri had to come in and shut it down! In more recent years prior to being used as apartments, it was a grocery store. We’ll talk to our friends at the Museum and see about doing a story on it! Thanks for asking!
