Wife Charged with Second-Degree Murder in Kearney Homicide

Kearney, MO–The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of a homicide that occurred last night in the 16200 block of Kountry Ridge Drive, northeast of Kearney.

At 10 p.m. on June 18, a 911 caller reported a man had been shot at a home on Kountry Ridge Drive. Deputies arrived at the scene to find the victim, 50-year-old Ricky Allen, had died from his injuries.

The victim’s wife, Melissa I. Hoffner-Allen, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with his death. She is currently being held in the Clay County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Office has stated that no further information is available at this time. Updates will be provided as more details emerge.
