Welcome Jessica Cornish: The Excelsior Citizen’s New Digital Manager and Lifestyle Writer

The Excelsior Citizen is thrilled to introduce Jessica Cornish, our newest team member who joins us as a Digital Manager and Lifestyle Writer. Jessica’s diverse background, community involvement, and passion for storytelling make her a perfect fit for our publication. We recently sat down with Jessica to learn more about her journey to the Excelsior Citizen and what she hopes to bring to our community through her work.

Jessica’s enthusiasm for the Excelsior Citizen is rooted in her admiration for the positive impact the publication has on the community. “Seeing all of the good the Citizen brings to the community was definitely a huge factor. Also knowing how much work is going into everything, I wanted to be able to help lighten the load a little!” Jessica expressed. Her eagerness to contribute and make a difference speaks volumes about her commitment to our mission.

Originally from the Northland, Jessica and her husband, Scot, moved to Excelsior in April 2014. “We used a USDA loan, found a house here and never looked back!” Jessica shared. For nine years, she offered pet services out of their home, a testament to her love for animals and dedication to providing care. In 2022, Jessica became a certified Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT tapping) practitioner, further diversifying her professional experiences, practicing under Wholistic Serenity, focusing on self and wellness.

Jessica looks forward to bringing her extensive experience in social media management and marketing to the Excelsior Citizen. For the last eight years she has been writing an inspirational blog sharing fashion for plus size ladies called Midwest Jess. Beyond her professional endeavors, Jessica is actively involved in the Excelsior community. Whether serving as the visitor ambassador at the Hall of Waters for DEP or running the Dog Moms of Excelsior Springs community group, Jessica’s passion for her community shines. She is also a proud new member of the Excelsior Springs Business Women of Excelsior Springs.
