Greetings from the Farmers Market! Here’s a recap of our bustling week:
Morning Market Highlights
Round 2 of our double markets was a success at the Excelsior Springs Community Center. We welcomed 16 vendors offering a delightful array of produce, meat, baked goods, and crafts. The morning was lively with a special appearance by a fundraising dance team and a visit from Ms. Ivan’s summer school class, who were busy preparing for their principal’s dinner. We also assisted seniors interested in the SFMNP program—those 60 or older are encouraged to apply at our market booth.
Evening Market Recap:
The evening market kicked off energetically despite the heat, which was tempered by a refreshing breeze. Highlights included a generous outpouring of donations for The Good Samaritan Center, filling our donation box with food, paper goods, and personal items. Donors received market bucks for their contributions, redeemable with our vendors. We were thrilled to host MU Extension, signing up seniors for SFMNP and offering a delicious berry salad tasting alongside informative sessions on container gardening. Special thanks to Penrods, ACE Hardware, and Lowes for their support in making these workshops possible.
In total, 22 vendors delighted market-goers with offerings ranging from meats (pork, beef, chicken) to fresh bread, jams, crafts, and even freeze-dried candy. Dinner options were aplenty with delightful paninis from 414 Co. and refreshing bottled water courtesy of HyVee. Our weekly giveaways continued to excite attendees, with Sonya S. winning this week’s prize. Thanks to Kilgore Wild Rise Bread, Abigail’s Sweet Peas, and Dari-B for their contribution to our giveaways.
Looking ahead, we anticipate the return of Lip Smackin BBQ food truck and Nonnie’s Shaved Ice next week, ensuring a delicious experience for all. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated committee members who assist with setup and teardown each week—they truly make our market thrive.
