Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Coming to Excelsior Springs in 2026

Vietnam War Memorial wall with red rose

The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, a powerful tribute to those who served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War, will be on display in Excelsior Springs from September 9-14, 2026. The exhibit, sponsored by the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives, will be located at James E. Piburn Ballfield, 112 S. Thompson Avenue.

In addition to the traveling exhibit, the museum will host a special local display, “Not Forgotten,” which will open on February 1, 2026, and remain on view through November 30, 2027. This exhibit, housed at the museum at 101 East Broadway in historic downtown Excelsior Springs, will tell the story of the Vietnam War through the experiences of local service members and their families.

The Vietnam Wall honors 58,303 fallen servicemen and eight servicewomen who lost their lives during the war. Among them are 1,418 soldiers from Missouri, representing nearly 400 cities and towns, including 19 from Clay County and five from Ray County, both within the museum’s service area.

To ensure that all local veterans who served during the Vietnam era are recognized, the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives is actively collecting names and stories from those connected to Excelsior Springs and the surrounding areas. Community members are encouraged to share information about themselves, loved ones, or friends by completing a Military Survey Form. Forms are available at the museum or can be downloaded online at https://esmuseum.com/military-room.

For more information or to request a form, contact the museum at emuseum101@gmail.com or call 816-630-0101.
