Two Excelsior Springs Farmer’s Markets Open on Wednesdays

On Wednesday two farmer’s markets opened in Excelsior Springs, one in the morning on the west side of town and another in the evening in the downtown. Both groups are hoping that by working at offset times on the same day, it will make it easier for residents to attend whichever works better for their schedule.

Working in partnership with the Excelsior Springs Community Center, Colleen Rhodus has organized a morning market in the parking lot of the Center for the last two years. There you will find vendors with fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as flowers and other crafted items on display. Shoppers are asked to keep in mind the fact that there are many vegetables and fruits that aren’t yet in season, so the market will grow with time. This market runs from 8:00am-12:00pm every Wednesday and is still accepting vendor entries. Reach out to Colleen Rhodus at 816-803-6178 for questions.

For the last year and a half the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce has been working on organizing a new downtown farmers market that would be open during the evening hours of 4:00pm-7:00pm in the parking lot across the street from the Good Samaritan Center. It promises to bring residents many of the same types of produce as the morning market, but also offer vendor opportunities for those with goods to sell. Something this market will have that the other will not is the ability to pay with SNAP benefits. This should be in place in the near future. Interested parties should reach out to Madison at the Chamber at 816-630-6161.
