Excelsior Springs, MO—Downtown Excelsior Springs welcomed the Grand Reopening of two beloved boutiques this past weekend. Butterfly Kisses and Vesta Hearth and Home expanded into adjoining storefronts after starting out as vendors at the 414 Company on Thompson Ave. The celebrations marked a significant milestone for both businesses and their owners, who have poured their passion into creating unique shopping experiences for the community.
Butterfly Kisses, now located at 217 Broadway, is operated by Carol Baxter, a local entrepreneur with a dream of owning her own storefront. Specializing in women’s clothing, with a few items for men as well, Butterfly Kisses has become a go-to destination for fashion-forward locals. Baxter’s boutique is a reflection of her personal style and commitment to providing quality apparel that resonates with her customers.
“Opening a storefront has been a dream for a long time,” Baxter shared with a smile. “I’m so excited to have this opportunity to create a space where people can find clothing that makes them feel confident and beautiful.”
Next door at 215 Broadway, Kerrie and Allen Amos have brought their passion for antiques to life with Vesta Hearth and Home. The couple, known for their keen eye for vintage treasures, has filled their shop with an array of antique home goods and furnishings. The store is a haven for anyone looking to add a touch of nostalgia or character to their home.
Kerrie Amos, who once worked in the very same space during high school when it was Brown’s Pharmacy, spoke about the location’s personal significance. “It’s really nostalgic for me to be back here,” she said. Allen and I have always been collectors of antiques, and we’re so happy to be able to share them with others. It’s like coming full circle, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.”
The close friendship between Baxter and Amos has made this transition even more special. The two have supported each other through every step of their journey, and now their adjoining storefronts symbolize the strong bond they share.
The Grand Re-Opening weekend was filled with excitement, as customers old and new flocked to the boutiques to show their support and browse the carefully curated selections. Both boutiques are sure to become staples in the downtown area, each offering something special for everyone who walks through their doors.
