Excelsior Springs, MO – On the morning of August 4, 2024, a traffic accident involving two vehicles left two well-known employees of the City of Excelsior Springs with moderate injuries. The crash occurred at approximately 9:00 AM on Shoemaker Road, south of MO 10, and involved a 2015 Ford F150 driven by Nathan Conyers, 43, and a 2020 Ford F550 driven by Robert Reynolds, 90.
Nathan Conyers, accompanied by his wife Susan Conyers, 43, were traveling eastbound on MO 10 when their vehicle swerved to avoid a collision with Reynolds’ southbound vehicle, which was pulling a hay wagon. Despite efforts to avoid the crash, the Conyers’ vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by Reynolds’ truck. Both vehicles veered off the southeast corner of the intersection, with the Conyers’ truck rolling and coming to rest against a tree.
The Conyers sustained moderate injuries and were promptly transported by Ray County EMS to Liberty Hospital. Robert Reynolds, who suffered minor injuries, declined treatment at the scene and said he would seek medical treatment later.
News of the accident spread quickly among the city’s employees, many of whom expressed deep concern for the Conyers couple. Known for their dedication and contributions to the community, the couple’s well-being has been a top priority for their family, colleagues, and friends.
The Citizen staff extends its thoughts and support to the Conyers and wishes them a swift and full recovery.
