Terilee Ann Mahurin

Terilee Ann Mahurin (Jackson, Stryker), 71, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 23, 2025.

Teri was born March 1st, 1954 in Los Angeles, CA to Bill and Phyllis Jackson. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in Oskaloosa, IA in 1972. She attended college after having her daughters and graduated with her RN BSN in 1998 from Missouri Southern State College (now University). She was very proud to work as a nurse in the operating room at Liberty Hospital as well as a charge nurse at Valley Manor. Teri was a renowned baker in her younger years, making Santa Claus cookies and delicious cinnamon rolls for bake sales, gifts and school and church events. She was a band mom for 2 generations, helping to keep kids in line, raise money and enjoy a great show whenever possible.

She is survived by her husband Mike Mahurin and children Brandy (Brett) Jensen, Jennifer (Patricio) Zamora, Melissa (Ryan) Valdez, and Brenna (Clifton) Durham, her  grandchildren Trigg (Ashley) Brewer, Jaison Miller,  Bria (Dyvon) Guerrero, Jayden (Idaly) Zamora, Alexander (Miah) Garcia, Day (Andrew) Zamora, Dominic Zamora, Selena and Olivia Valdez, Gracelynn Durham. She is also survived by her sister Kim (Mark) Scott and brother Scott (Marty) Jackson, along with many nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She is also survived by her sweet dog Jaxxon, a little old guy who is now lost without her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill Jackson and Phyllis Hurst, her friend and ex-husband Jan Stryker.

Teri was able to continue helping others even after death by donating various tissues. As a nurse she had a deep love and respect for organ, tissue and eye donation. Teri really enjoyed a day of shopping, food and pampering. She made the most mundane trips into adventures. She was outspoken and stubborn but she also wanted to help anyone she could in whatever way she could. You never left a conversation with her wondering how she felt. Her purple hair will live in infamy. We love her and will miss her dearly.

Her celebration of life will be held Dec 6, 2025 at the Elks Lodge from 5p-7p (421 S Titus Ave, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024). Cash bar will be open and some food provided.
