Excelsior Springs American Legion is accepting toy donations for the Toys for Tots campaign with drop off sites at Dubious Claims and Warbird Whiskey downtown. Posting in local Facebook Groups, like Helping Those in Need This Holiday Season and Buy Nothing Excelsior Springs, MO. The Excelsior Springs Fire Department has a Season for Hope Toy Drive in partnership with Channel 41 News and the Salvation Army. They are accepting donations through mid-December. You can find trees with angels needing adopted at the Excelsior Springs Community Center’s Giving Tree and Walmart. Meet the Need and Good Samaritan Center are also taking new toy donations and items for teens (pajamas, blankets, hair and nail items, etc.).
When two citizens separate from each other reported stocking the Blessing Boxes/Community Pantries in town, others in the comments asked about where they were located so they could do the same. There is a green one in the parking lot at Barbee Memorial Church on Tiger Drive. There is another located at Grace Family Worship Center on Kearney Rd, as reported by citizens.
When Madison Head came into the group and posted a picture of her cute pup asking where she could find a Santa that would take a picture with a dog, she got a lot of options presented by citizens. Here are the closest options given:
ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs (225 N Jesse James) is having Santa at an Open House event on Saturday, December 14th from 4-7pm. Realtor Bob Halberstadt even offered to print a picture for you! They’re also doing a food drive for both pets and people!
Long Vet Clinic Daycare and Boarding (19615 Hwy 92, Kearney) will have a Santa Paws Christmas Photos event on December 14th from 10am-2pm at $10/dog. Proof of rabies vaccination required; kennel cough is encouraged; all pets must be leased and friendly. Questions? 816-635-6616 ext. 2.
When the power went out after a tree limb downed a line on Wednesday, the community reported the outage in mass! At one point there were 1,300+ without power and many businesses were struggling to check out customers. There was some discussion regarding burying power lines, with some in favor and others arguing against, claiming installation costs and interruptions would go up.
