Talk of the Town

Welcome to Talk of the Town! Each week, we will provide a comprehensive summary of major events, decisions, and discussions that took place in Excelsior Springs. We’ll highlight public comments, social media interactions, and responses from local leaders to give you a well-rounded view of how these stories are impacting our city. We would love your feedback!

Top 3 Stories from Last Week:

What Got You Talking:

Chris Kimball posted into the Excelsior Citizen group asking what citizens felt the downtown needed, that he’s willing to work with the right person. This brought on a LOT of discussion with points ranging anywhere from creating an indoor playground for parents, a LEGO store, a fish market, and more. Some of the usual arguments presented themselves, requesting that stores be open later for shoppers, prices be more affordable, and desire for a movie theatre. When a skating rink was brought up, Councilman Gary Renne said that he’s got meetings planned to discuss a possible rink.

In addition to a car thief, there have been reports and video of people getting into cars, trashing them, and taking valuables.
