The Clay County Sheriff’s Department announced a significant development in the homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body at Rocky Hollow Park on Dec. 22. Charges have been filed against Elena Delcarmen Flores, a 48-year-old woman, in connection with the case.

Elena Flores, whose last known residence was in Gardner, Kansas, is facing charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and abandonment of a corpse. She is not in custody, and authorities believe she may have left the metro area.

Flores may also be known by the names Elena Torres, Elena Flores Garcia, or Elena Stores. She is described as being 5’5” tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds.

Law enforcement is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Flores. If you have any information about her whereabouts, contact investigators immediately at 816-407-3723 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

The man has been identified but the Sheriff’s Department has not released his name as they are still attempting to reach his family. We will release further details as they are made available to us.
