Success Despite the Threat of Rain: Spring City-Wide Garage Sale Sees Strong Turnout

This weekend’s Spring City-Wide Garage Sale was a success, with over 100 homes participating despite earlier concerns about severe weather. The week leading up to the event saw residents anxiously checking forecasts as rain loomed, potentially putting a damper on the festivities.

Organizers ultimately decided to proceed with the sale as planned, offering participating households the option to postpone theirs to the following weekend if desired. Thirteen households opted for this, and details about their rescheduled sales can be found here.

One particularly heartwarming story came from Citizen Dave Poling, who dedicated all proceeds from his garage sale to Calvary Christian Union’s “Out of the Darkness” Suicide Prevention effort. Calvary Christian Union holds an annual garage sale, car washes, and a suicide awareness walk, with their team operating under the name “Brian.” Donations to their cause can be made here.

The event wasn’t just limited to residents! St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Calvary Christian Union, and Wild Bunch also joined in, solidifying the Spring City-Wide Garage Sale’s position as the Northland’s largest.

Looking ahead, the Citizen is working on establishing a dedicated garage sale page on their website. This will allow residents to easily post details about their sales throughout the entire garage sale season.

Community Feedback Wanted!

Organizers are eager to hear from participants! Whether you attended a sale or hosted one yourself, they’d appreciate less than 3 minutes of your time to complete their online survey.
