There were three key takeaways from this month’s meeting of the Excelsior Springs Board of Education held on March 14, 2022; Classified Employee recognition, Summer Learning Program details, and an update on employee benefits.

Hillary Mullin from Cornerstone Elementary was recognized as the Classified Employee of the Month for March 2022. Hillary was nominated by Misty Smith at Cornerstone Elementary. In her nomination, Ms. Smith wrote
Hillary is such a huge asset to Cornerstone, you can see her working from the time she walks into the building until the time she leaves. You hear her name being called throughout the day for various things to go take care of the building, that she does with a smile on her face. She does the job that could never be paid enough, but you would never know it. She always has a friendly hello to every passerby and a positive vibe and all around great attitude! We are so lucky to have her!
Mark Bullimore presented the 2022 Summer Learning Program for the Board’s approval. The three goals of the program presented were to “have the biggest and best summer school we’ve ever had, to have the most fun we’ve ever had, and to create a repeatable program that we can use again in the future,” said Bullimore. The dates for the Summer Learning Program will be June 1st through June 24th, 8:00 AM to 2:30 p.m

Bill Griffey with Griffey Insurance in Excelsior Springs, MO gave an update on employee benefits. The good news is that rates for next year saw an overall decrease in plan costs. The Missouri Educators Unified Health Plan increase was 5%, but the Excelsior Springs School District had a healthy year and moved down a tier saving 5%.
