Excelsior Springs, Mo. (March, 14 2025) – Excelsior Springs police are investigating the deaths of two men found inside a home on Woods Avenue Wednesday night.

According to a statement from the Excelsior Springs Police Department, officers were dispatched at 8:39 p.m. on March 12 after receiving a 911 call from a concerned family member requesting a welfare check at a residence in the 200 block of Woods Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found the home secured. After the family member urged law enforcement to enter the home, officers forced entry and discovered two adult males deceased from apparent unnatural causes. The individuals were later identified as 33-year-old Dare M. Kinney and 31-year-old Chad D. Wooten. According to Clay County property records, Kinney was listed as the homeowner of the residence where the incident occurred.

Authorities have not disclosed details about the cause of death but confirmed that the evidence at the scene suggests the incident was isolated to those inside the residence. Police have assured the public that there is no suspect or person of interest at large.
