Paradise Playhouse Reborn as Firefly Event Center Opens Doors with Grand Celebration

Excelsior Springs welcomes a vibrant new entertainment venue in the heart of downtown! The former Paradise Playhouse has been given a new lease on life by area couple Adam and Sarah Love, reopening as the Firefly Event Center.

Sarah Love, no stranger to the space having worked there as a waiter years ago, teamed up with her husband Adam to breathe new life into the building that has sat vacant for years.  In a whirlwind two months, they transformed the property and hosted a grand opening celebration this past weekend, April 21st, at 101 Spring Street.

The festivities kicked off on Saturday with a delightful Princess Tea Party featuring princesses Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel, and Cinderella. Ticket-holders enjoyed a royal tea party with their favorite princesses, complete with a show and meet-and-greet.

Sunday’s grand opening offered free entertainment for the whole family. Mr. Stinky Feet took the stage, and beforehand there was a “Bluey” experience and performances by A Yellow Box of Magic balloon artist. Play areas were available for toddlers, and refreshments were on hand. The official ribbon cutting ceremony was held in partnership with the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, with Chamber President Brian Rice remarking on the community’s excitement to see the space reopened.

Overwhelmed by the outpouring of local support, Adam and Sarah Love expressed their desire to become permanent residents of Excelsior Springs.

Firefly Event Center promises a season of exciting events for all ages. Upcoming highlights include stand-up comedy with Gary Curtis, a Mother’s Day “Charcuterie & Wine with Mom” afternoon, a thrilling Dueling Piano Concert, magic with Todd Lamanske, a Michael Jackson tribute show, a production of the play “The Foreigner,” and much more.
