"Night With the Band" Fundraiser Plays to Full House

The Excelsior Springs “Night with the Band” fundraiser was met with tremendous success and a packed house. Hundreds were in attendance at the Montgomery Event Venue to show their support for the middle school and high school band programs. The William Jewell Jazz Ensemble, Excelsior Springs High School Jazz Ensemble, and Excelsior Springs Jazz Band provided the entertainment while those in attendance bid on silent auction and raffle items. A dessert auction made the evening especially sweet, with dozens of cakes and cookies selling for hundreds of dollars each. Band director Garrett Jones thanked the generous patrons and invited them back for what he hopes will become an annual tradition. On Monday, April 4th, Jones reported that the event raised over $8900 for the music programs at the middle and high schools and shared several students submitted notes of thanks to the Excelsior Citizen to share with the community.

Thank you to everyone in the community who came and supported the Excelsior Band on the 31st. It was such an honor to be able to be a part in an event like that and receive such a warm and caring welcome. Everything went even better than I could have ever imagined and I hope that next year we can put on an even better show for you!
