National Night Out Brings Families and Responders Together

Sept 16, 2022 – The Excelsior Springs Police Department hosted their National Night Out event at Siloam Park on Friday evening and they were nice enough to invite their friends from the Fire Department too. The event gave families an opportunity to meet police officers and first responders and provided a number of games and hands-on activities. Typically held on the first Tuesday of August, the event was postponed due to excessive heat. According to the organization’s website, National Night Out is meant to “enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.” Police, Fire, and EMS vehicles were on display. There was face painting and lots of goodies for the kids too. The highlight of the event had to be the pie-eating contest between police officer Andrew Stott and firefighter Jeremiah Titus. Let us know who you think won in the comments!
