The Excelsior Springs Area Cultural Guild has announced their annual Murder Mystery fundraising event that generates funds for local youth who are planning to pursue the arts. In its third year, the event is sure to be the only Halloween Party that you’ll be able to find in town in February! With a volunteer cast, the Guild puts on a great show for a great cause!
This year’s event features a murder on Halloween night. The cast of dead – and undead – characters only venture out one night a year because they can mingle at parties with the costumed mortals without causing a panic. But on this All Hallow’s Eve, a murder and more hair-raising revelations send shockwaves through the spooky group, and it is down to one detective – and the audience – to solve the crime or crimes.
Coordinated by Tisha Mason, of Excelsior Springs, the cast includes: Roxane Harden, Jolene Loftin, Shawn Roney, Sydney Strack and Russell Wenz, all of Excelsior Springs; Stacey Box of Liberty, Doug Edwards of Ectonville and Marla Neal of Kansas City.
The event includes a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and more. The Saturday night show includes dinner and cash bar, and the Sunday matinee is dessert and coffee. Get your tickets by February 13th at www.esculturalguild.com or call 816.679.4443.
- Saturday tickets: $40 each or $280 for table of 8, plus PayPal fees
- Sunday tickets: $25 each, plus fees
Scholarships given by the Guild are for $1,000 each and aren’t limited to just Excelsior Springs students, they are also available to Lawson, Richmond, Orrick, and home school students, too. The money can be used at a college or trade school, as long as the degree program or major has to do with the arts. Considerations include: graphic design, theatre production and design, film work, such as a production, design, videography, teaching music or art, music, painting, sculpture.
The Guild has a goal of giving two scholarships each year, but when their fundraising exceeded goals, they’re willing to give more. Recently the Guild was able to offer seven scholarships to arts students. The Guild credits sponsors for making this possible. Students interested in applying can reach out to the Cultural Guild by email, ask the school counselor, or visit their website at esculturalguild.com.
