MoDOT Begins Resurfacing Project on 69 Hwy, Causing Traffic Delays

Excelsior Springs, MO — The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) began a resurfacing project on 69 Highway, affecting traffic flow through Excelsior Springs. The project, which started on July 18, spans from 92 Highway to McCleary Road and is set to last approximately two weeks.

The subcontractor responsible for the resurfacing work contacted the Excelsior Springs Police Department to provide details of the project. In an email, Chief Gregory Dull said they were told workers would begin at 92 Highway and work south to McCleary. Once the resurfacing is complete in Excelsior Springs, crews will continue working on 69 Hwy north of 92. The subcontractor said crews would begin working daily at 7:00 AM, and the total project time is expected to take two weeks.

Citizens have reported significant delays while navigating the construction zone with one-way traffic control in place. Some residents have experienced waits of up to 15 minutes to be guided through the area.

Drivers are advised to plan for extra travel time and consider alternative routes if possible.
