
On Friday, April 14th, from 4:30 to 7 PM, students from Excelsior Springs Middle School poured out their emotions through powerful words and vivid imagery. From poems about nature to pieces about personal struggles, the students left the audience in awe.
Slightly Off Broadway Theatre hosted an inspiring poetry night event that gave Excelsior Springs Middle School students the opportunity to showcase their poetic talents. English teacher Gina Calvin organized the event as a way for students to explore their inner dialogue and practice their writing.
“I was blown away by the creativity and depth of the students’ writing,” said Calvin. “It’s amazing to see the different perspectives and voices that each student brings to the table.”

The event was attended by parents, teachers, and community members who were eager to support the young poets. The audience responded with applause and cheers, creating an encouraging atmosphere that allowed students to feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Excelsior Springs Middle School is proud to have provided its students with an outlet to express themselves through the power of poetry. The event was a huge success, giving students a platform to share their voices and connect with their community. It’s clear that the future of poetry is bright at Excelsior Springs Middle School.
