DIY Book Page Wreath 
Wednesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. 

Sometimes books are just no longer able to be read. Learn how to repurpose them with eco-artist Alexis Webb-Bechtold and give these books a new life in the shape of a wreath! Registration is required. For adults.

KC Garment District: Piecing Together the Past 
Wednesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. 

Local historian David W. Jackson explores the fascinating industry that clothed America with stylish garments that were “Made in Kansas City, U.S.A.” The KC Garment District once represented the largest market of coats and suits in the U.S. Explore its history and find out what is left of the industry and the district today. For adults.

Rediscover Kansas City 
Monday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. 

Explore Kansas City with local author Traci Angel as she discusses her updated version of “100 Things to Do in Kansas City Before You Die.” She will highlight the best that Kansas City has to offer when it comes to culture, history, and outdoor adventures. For adults.

Animal Care Investigations 
Saturday, November 4 at 3:30 p.m. 

What do animals need to be healthy and happy? Learn how the Kansas City Zoo meets the unique needs of each of its animals, and practice problem-solving like an animal care specialist. (Ages 4 and up) Registration is required. 

Early Literacy Music and Movement 
Thursday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. 

Early Literacy Music and Movement encourages the development of early literacy skills through music, instrument play, and big body movement. This Music and Movement program is a very active session, so make sure to put on your dancing shoes! (Ages 3 and up) 

Ghosts and Goblins and Monsters and Such 
Saturday, October 21 at 3:30 p.m. 

Storyteller Joyce Slater weaves classic Halloween tales that will thrill and chill. (Ages 7 and up) 

Mad Science Presents Sun and Stars 
Monday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. 

This stellar program is your ticket to the stars. Watch star dust burn, and journey through a soapy galaxy as you investigate the life cycle of stars. This program is recommended for ages 7 to 12. (Ages 7 and up) Registration is required. 

Play and Learn 
Thursday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. 
Thursday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m. 

Enjoy a special preschool playtime that is designed to stimulate young minds and strengthen early literacy skills. There will be exhilarating and fun activities and the opportunity to meet other preschoolers and caregivers. The open playtime allows you to come and go as your schedule permits. (All ages) 

Read to a Pet 
Wednesday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. 

Read to some very good listeners—registered therapy pets. These special animals will be available for 10-minute sessions to help children improve their reading skills and build self-confidence. Space is limited. Check with your local branch for more information. (Ages 3 and up) Registration is required. 

Slither and Crawl 
Tuesday, October 17 at 4:00 p.m. 

Is a snake slimy? What does a turtle feel like? What’s a salamander? Find out the answers from a Clay County naturalist, and learn where these animals live, what they eat, and get a chance to touch an animal. (Ages 7 and up) 

Storytime for Families: Costume Storytime 
Wednesday, October 25 at 10:30 a.m. 
Tuesday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. 

Wear your favorite costume to this special storytime! Designed for children of all ages. Come share the early literacy experience with the whole family. (All ages) 

Storytime for Preschoolers 
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. 

Visit the Library for an exciting, unique storytime journey. Explore first steps toward reading readiness for you and your preschooler. Designed for preschoolers 3-5 years old and their caregivers. (Ages 3 and up) 

Storytime for Toddlers 
Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. 

Share a fun, interactive journey with your toddler that will engage and encourage next steps into early reading. Designed for toddlers 18-36 months old and caregivers. (Ages 2 and up) 

Travel the High Seas and Beyond with Polly Pilgrim 
Thursday, November 16 at 6:30 p.m. 

Take a voyage on the Mayflower with Polly Pilgrim to a new home across the ocean. Meet her family, friends, and neighbors in the New World. (Ages 3 and up)

Teen Programs

Teen Games: Role-Playing Games 
Monday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. 

Play tabletop role-playing games at the Library! From D&D to Fate, Starfinder to Lasers and Feelings, join us for a campaign-style gaming experience. Talk to your branch for more information about which system will be played. Character sheets and dice will be provided. Registration is required. For teens.
