Lady Tiger Wrestlers Claim Four Titles, Take Third at Lathrop

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (Nov. 25, 2025) – The Lathrop Girls Turkey Break Tournament opened the wrestling season for the Lady Tigers on November 25, where Excelsior Springs took 12 wrestlers to the 13-team event and finished in third place as a team.

Four Lady Tigers earned first-place medals. Senior Nevaeh Happy went 3-0 in the 110-pound B bracket with two wins by fall and a medical forfeit. Junior Analese Happy finished 2-0 with two wins by fall to claim the 115-pound title. Sophomore Kyle Jesse was 2-0 with a pair of falls to win the 125-pound championship, and sophomore Emily Hilliard went 2-0 in the 155-pound B bracket with a fall and an 18-12 decision to take first.

Six Lady Tigers brought home third-place medals: senior Jona Jansen (155), junior Pyper Layton (140), and sophomores Bristol Sharp (105), Lily Goetz (120), Haylee Ray (145), and freshman Makayla Maring (115). Each wrestler dropped just one match on the way to the podium. Junior Kennedi Winford went 2-1 to finish fifth at 110 pounds, rebounding from an opening loss with two straight wins.

Kearney and Pleasant Hill tied for the team title with 34 points each. The Lady Tigers’ 28 points placed them third, followed by Lawson with 24. Excelsior Springs returns to the mat on December 6 at the North Kansas City Tournament.
