December is here and with Thanksgiving having passed, there’s no excuse to not celebrate the Christmas and Holiday season! Lucky for us, Excelsior Springs businesses and organizations are going all out in order to offer us an extraordinary experience this Christmas. Following are a list of 20 local events taking place so you won’t miss a thing!

Thursday, December 7th

The Elms Hotel and Spa will have a ticketed charity toy drive event from 5pm-8pm. They’re asking guests to bring TWO unwrapped toys to be donated to local families that will be needed with ticket. Stroll through the winter wonderland of gift ideas, a number of products, and goodies and champagne. Click here for more info. 

Friday, December 8th

ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs – Santa event
Santa Claus is coming to ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs on Friday, December 8th from 4pm-7pm. The realtors will have an Open House with free pics with Santa! They will also have a food drive for people and pets. Pets are welcome and there are many fun activities planned.

Saturday, December 9th

Excelsior Springs Sons of the American Legion
Join the Sons of the American Legion for their 2nd Annual Biscuits and Gravy Breakfast benefiting Toys for Tots on Saturday, December 9th from 8am-11am at 208 Veterans Memorial Drive. Donate a new unwrapped toy of $10 or more and receive a Free Breakfast as a thank you. 100% of the proceeds goes to the Toys for Tots organization. You can also purchase breakfast: Full order of Biscuits & Gravy is $10, Half order is $6. Meal includes Biscuits and Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Links, and beverage. Cash or check only.

Candy Cane Hunt – Santa event
Search for Candy Canes at the ESHS Practice Fields starting at 10am! Win prizes and meet Santa! Free for ages 1-12. Bring your own bag for Candy Canes. They will have hot cocoa and cookies, plus photos with Santa. Sponsored by ES Parks and Recreation.

Cocktails and Candy Canes – Downtown shops
Sip on cocktails downtown with holiday themed drinks and snacks. Tickets are $20. Click here to purchase online.

Thursday, December 14th

Roberts Robinson Chevrolet Buick GMC – Santa event
Santa will be at Roberts Robinson from 4-6pm. They will also be having their toy drive, asking for unopened toys for Meet the Need.

Friday, December 15th

Good Samaritan Center
Join the Good Samaritan Center for some old-fashioned caroling! They will meet for a quick practice at 5pm and participants are welcome ot walk as far or as little as you like. Wheelchairs, wagons, roller-skates, are all welcome! Singing skills not necessary! All ages are welcome but requesting no pets, because they may go into buildings.

Hall of Waters – Santa Claus is Coming to Town! – Santa event
Join Santa and Mrs. Claus from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Hall of Waters for free pictures with Santa and a trolley ride through the Lane of Lights. 

Saturday, December 16th

Elkhorn Elementary – Santa event
Join Elkhorn Elementary from 8am-10am for an all you can eat pancake breakfast catered by Chris Cakes. Enjoy crafts, Christmas story read alouds, and a visit with Santa and the Mrs. Tickets are $6 and there will be a limited number purchased at the door. 

Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Community Center
Join the community center for a “Holiday in Whoville” event at 9:30am. For $10 per person, you’ll have a meet and greet with The Grinch, a Whoville breakfast, Whoville crafts, and whimsical games! Click here for tickets.

Monday, December 18th

Lewis Elementary
Join Lewis Elementary for their Lewis Elf Workshop on Monday, December 18th from 5pm-6pm. Listen to a story and create some Christmas crafts. Sponsored by Title 1 Reading.

A Slightly Off Broadway Christmas Show

Join the Slightly Off Broadway Theatre players for their annual Christmas Show sponsored by Aspire Senior Living. Shows will take place on December 8. 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 2023. Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30pm and Sunday matinee at 3:30pm. Adults are $17 and youth are $10. Make reservations by calling 816-637-3728 or purchase online by clicking here.

Local Santa Claus, Jason Ramey, joined Finders Keepers Excelsior Springs for a Christmas Open House this past weekend. If you are looking for a Santa, consider giving Jason a call! Word is, he will even do house calls! Call him at 816-517-1667.

Letter from Santa – Deadline December 14th
Drop your letter to Santa in the mailbox outside the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives on Broadway and receive a personalized letter from Santa that comes from the North Pole Express! 

Angel Trees
The following organizations have Angel Trees where you can adopt a family and then give them gifts at Wal-Mart, Wood Heights Fire Department, and the Excelsior Springs Community Center.

Thrive Excelsior
Sponsored by the Excelsior Springs Chamber, nominations are now open for the December Curb Appeal contest! Citizens can nominate homes that showcase festive holiday decor by clicking here!

New Age Skincare and Spa
Join our friends at New Age Skincare Spa with a Holiday Raffle! All you have to do is drop by New Age downtown on Broadway to purchase a ticket! 1 for $10 or 3 for $25 from December 1st-January 31st. Drawing will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024. Here’s what you could win:

ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs
ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs is doing a drive for non-perishable people food and bag or canned pet food and supplies for the Good Samaritan Center. Drop your donations at their office at 225 N Jesse James Rd through December 10th, where they will have an Open House with Santa from 2pm-6pm.

Lane of Lights – Lovers Lane downtown 
Lane of Lights is now open every evening between 5:30pm-9:00pm. Local organizations benefit from donations given at the lane. Suggested donation is $5.

Hall of Trees
The Hall of Waters is open daily for viewing of the trees in the solarium around the water bar. This runs through December 31st. Hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-4:45pm and Saturday and Sunday, 11am-4pm.
