How to Lend a Hand in Excelsior Springs This Holiday Season

Excelsior Springs, Mo. – The holiday season can sometimes be a difficult time of year, but Excelsior Springs has a long tradition of neighbors supporting neighbors. For residents who feel compelled to be involved this year, several organizations are coordinating collection efforts that directly support local families.

TOY DRIVES

Three Olives Italian Kitchen & Bakery: Toy Drive

Location: 101 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs

Dates: December 2–22

Accepting new, unwrapped toys benefiting foster children throughout Clay County. Santa will visit on December 20 from 6–7 p.m. for photos.

Roberts-Robinson Chevrolet & GMC: Meet the Need Toy Collection

Roberts-Robinson is accepting new, unwrapped toys on behalf of Meet the Need’s annual holiday support program. Donations go directly to local families served by the nonprofit.

Excelsior Springs Fire Department: Season of Hope Toy Drive

Location: 201 E. Broadway Ave.

Drop-off Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

Final Day for Donations: December 12

ESFD is participating in KSHB 41’s Season of Hope drive for the fourth year. The initiative, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, collects new, unwrapped gifts for children from infancy through age 18. Donations can be placed in the Season of Hope bins inside the station’s front lobby.

FOOD COLLECTION

Mid-Continent Public Library – Excelsior Springs Branch

MCPL has an in-library food shelf found just inside their front doors. Donations of nonperishable items can be dropped off during regular library hours through December 15, and proceeds will be donated to the Good Samaritan Center.

Volunteering

The Community Foundation has many seasonal volunteer opportunities to choose from, like the Snow Angels or Meals and a Visit Program. To apply, visit their site here. 

TO GIVE OR RECEIVE DIRECT ASSISTANCE

Good Samaritan Center of Excelsior Springs

The Good Samaritan Center is taking in-person sign-ups for holiday assistance and ongoing support services, and accepting donations of toys or food for their drive initiatives. Drop off during normal business hours. 

Meet the Need – Excelsior Springs

Phone: 816-630-5221

Meet the Need is registering families for assistance by phone. The organization also receives donations from several local toy and food drives. To drop off a donation, Meet the Need reserves the 2nd Wednesday of every month (Dec. 10) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Christmas donations are welcome at this time.
