Excelsior Springs, MO – Excelsior Springs High School is gearing up for an extensive school-wide testing event scheduled to begin this Tuesday, March 12th, involving all students across different grade levels. This ambitious initiative aims to prepare students for future academic and career pathways by offering a suite of standardized tests tailored to each grade’s needs.
Freshmen and Sophomores are set to take the PreACT 8/9 and PreACT, respectively. These tests are designed to offer students practice and a predicted score range for the ACT. Moreover, they aim to highlight individual academic strengths and pinpoint areas for improvement while providing insights aligned with college and career interests.
Juniors can take the ACT, which assesses readiness for higher education and can influence college admission and scholarship opportunities, and the ASVAB. The latter is intended for students considering military careers, helping identify skills and potential for further training, with recruitment information available through www.careersinthemilitary.com.
Seniors will engage with the Work Keys test, presenting an opportunity to earn a Workplace Readiness Certificate. This credential is a valuable addition to resumes or job applications, showcasing a level of preparedness beyond the high school diploma.
The school emphasizes the importance of punctuality on test day, with all tests slated to begin sharply at 7:45 AM. Students arriving late will be unable to participate. They are reminded to bring #2 pencils and calculators, essentials for tackling the standardized tests. The school strictly prohibits using electronic devices during testing from 7:45 to 11:30 AM. Students must power off and store all such devices to maintain the integrity of the testing environment. Parents and guardians who must reach their children can contact the school office.
In preparation, students are advised to rest well the night before and eat a nutritious breakfast on the morning of the tests. Excelsior Springs High School supports this by offering complimentary breakfast and lunch to all students during March and April. Additional snacks will be provided during testing breaks, followed by a regular lunch service.
Following the conclusion of the tests, students will have a special assembly with a guest speaker and a celebratory event, offering them a chance to unwind and celebrate their efforts.
Students are reminded of the importance of adhering to the ACT testing policies to avoid disruptions and potential disqualification of their scores. Excelsior Springs High School encourages all students and parents to stay engaged and reach out with any questions or concerns regarding the testing day or schedule.
