Free Bulky Item Drop-Off Event to Ease Trash Collection Transition

City of Excelsior Springs Recycling Center

The City of Excelsior Springs understands the inconveniences and cancellations that residents have experienced during the transition to Republic Services’ new one-day/week curbside trash collection schedule.

To make up for any inconvenience, a free bulky item drop-off event will be held on Saturday, May 11th, from 9am to 3pm at the City’s Recycling Site located at 1300 S. Marietta St.

Republic Services is covering the fees for City limits residents only on this day. Be sure to bring your water bill when you arrive to prove residency.

This is your chance to declutter and dispose of those unwanted bulky items!

Here’s what you can bring:
• Furniture (sofas, chairs, tables, TVs, mattresses, box springs)
• Carpet and padding
• Building/construction materials (scrap boards, lumber)
• Scrap metal

Please note that some items are not accepted:
• Yard waste (use the designated yard waste area on the same property)
• Hazardous materials (paint, oil, grease, batteries, chemicals)
• Tires, rocks, dirt, gravel, or bricks
• Shingles (strictly prohibited)

Standard fees normally apply to the bulky item drop-off site, which is open seasonally on Saturdays from March 2nd to December 21st, 9am to 3pm. Cash is the only form of payment accepted for these standard fees.

For more details and information on the new trash collection schedule, residents can visit the City’s Newcomer Information Guide online.

Let’s work together to keep Excelsior Springs clean! Take advantage of this free bulky item drop-off event and responsibly dispose of those unwanted items.

Update 4/29 – 1:06pm: Mike Britt updated us about needing to take your water bill to show proof of residency in city limits. The story has been edited to include that information.
