This past Friday the Excelsior Springs Tigers football team traveled to Smithville to take on the undefeated Warriors for the district championship title. After a ferocious fight the Tigers came away with the loss (52-10), but the game had a few positive takeaways. The Tigers finished the game with a total of 253 rushing yards against the Warriors defense who gave up less than 100 rushing yards per game on average all season. Senior Amani Robinson made the highlight play for the Tigers, and the last touchdown of his high school career, on a spectacular 70 yard scramble. The Football Tigers finished the 2021-22 season with a 7-3 record. Smithville will take on Lincoln College Prep (Kansas City, MO) on Friday, November 19 in the MSHSAA State Quarterfinals.
