Excelsior Springs, Mo. (Dec. 20, 2024) — The Excelsior Springs Fire Department responded to a house fire Friday evening on Milwaukee Street. All residents safely evacuated before firefighters arrived, with neighbors stepping in to provide immediate support.
Excelsior Springs fire crews, assisted by the Kearney Fire Department and Ray County Emergency Services, quickly contained the fire, which caused minimal damage. Initial reports suggest the cause was electrical, though the investigation is ongoing.
Jarai Racasi, the mother of the household, took to social media to express gratitude for the outpouring of help. “In spite of it all, I remain thankful! It could have been so much worse. We are all healthy and safe,” Racasi said. She praised her neighbors, noting their quick action and generosity. “One gave me the slippers off her feet. Another ran down the street with a fire extinguisher, and others brought blankets and coats. Words can’t explain how grateful we are.”
Racasi also thanked her church community and Pastor James Wesley for their immediate support. “We will be just fine in time. Prayers are appreciated,” she said.
The family is currently evaluating the damage to their home and plans to take things one step at a time.
